Bauchi PDP Aspirant Defends Wike, Claims Most Accusers Have Defected to APC

Media Chat - Wike

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Usman Adamu, has said that 85% of those accusing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC) have themselves defected to the ruling party.

Adamu stated this in Abuja while submitting his nomination forms for the PDP governorship ticket, arguing that criticisms against Wike are politically inconsistent.

“About 85 per cent of those accusing him have already officially decamped to the APC. Who is working for APC?” he said.

He described politics as a competitive struggle requiring resilience, comparing it to a strategic contest involving leadership and coordination.

“You have a coach and a referee… in all fields of war, you must have a warrior,” he said.

The aspirant also dismissed claims of PDP instability in Bauchi State, insisting the party remains the dominant political force despite ongoing defections.

“As far as I am concerned, there is one party here, which is PDP… PDP has its stronghold in Bauchi,” he said.

He added that political power cannot be predicted, stressing that voters ultimately decide electoral outcomes.

“Power and authority belongs to God and only Him can decide the future… Bauchi people are very wise,” he said.

Adamu positioned himself as a bridge-builder ahead of the 2027 elections, promising inclusive leadership.

“I will be the bridge between the women, youths and elders,” he said.

He also addressed regional sensitivities in Bauchi politics, stating he does not belong to any factional bloc.

“I don’t belong to Bauchi, I don’t belong to Kataokum. I will be in the middle of this place,” he said.

On PDP’s future, he expressed confidence that the party would reunite after its primaries and emerge stronger.

“After the primaries, we will be more united, and we will pose a very great threat to Bauchi State government,” he added.
