Brighton Move Into Top Half With Sunderland Win; Burnley Hold Bournemouth

EPL results: Brighton beat Sunderland 1-0, Bournemouth drew with Burnley, and Arsenal & Man City prepare for a crucial weekend in the title race.

Brighton climbed into the Premier League’s top half with a narrow 1-0 victory over Sunderland, while Bournemouth were held 0-0 by Burnley, ahead of a weekend that sees Arsenal and Manchester City renew their title rivalry.

The Gunners could briefly stretch their lead at the summit to 10 points when they take on Everton at the Emirates Stadium at 1730 GMT, while City look to bounce back from their heavy Champions League defeat by Real Madrid against West Ham, a match pivotal for both relegation and title ambitions.

Sunderland’s strong home record has faltered, with the Black Cats now losing three straight games at the Stadium of Light, dropping to 12th in the table.

Yankuba Minteh’s decisive strike, which slipped past goalkeeper Melker Ellborg at the near post, gave Brighton the win and lifted them into 10th place on goal difference.

Burnley and Bournemouth shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor. The Clarets remain eight points from safety, while Bournemouth stay in ninth, three points shy of Brentford in seventh, likely the last European qualifying spot.
