Buhari Has Died Twice -By J. Ezike

Whatever the label that is attached to our truth, what we have tried to do is write an honest account of the issues that concerns Nigeria. For the sake of clarity, Buhari has died twice. And not even the stubborn desire to protect the lies about his recent death can bury or hide the truth. And the truth is: Buhari died a long time ago. And the character that was declared dead by the Nigerian political cabals on the 13th of July is an imposter!

Buhari

The truth is particularly painful but because it speaks to power which stands in resistance, it becomes wayward and rebellious on the surface. In the past, we had alerted the world about the lies of the British government and the political cabals of Aso rock about the death of Buhari which had been reserved as classified information.

And yet what strikes me most when I think about the lies surrounding Buhari’s death is the running strain of ignorance and silence from Nigerians, especially it’s public intellectuals. An ignorance that seems incredible even by the measure of diplomacy.

No reaction or action was taken to investigate the fake buhari whom the British government and the Nigerian political cabals had declared dead, in finality of the fraud that seemed to have played a fool of us all.

As a result, Nigerians have continued to be seen as “sheepish people”, as people who are easily fooled and who take things at face value. Even our public intellectuals whom we assume to possess higher intelligence are also victims of this political fraud.

Privately, they have accepted the lies without any attempt to investigate what few of us had highlighted as an imposter, as the political ghost of the dead buhari in Aso rock.

It’s almost as if we’ve been trapped by the tragedy of this fraud that made us all cowards and had muzzled our speech from speaking it’s mind. What should trouble us even more, is that the legacy of this fraud will become part of our political tradition in Nigeria without any repercussions, as Nigerians have proven to be incurably naive and passive.

As if to follow what had been scripted, the Nigerian political cabals announced the fake Buhari dead in England on the 13th of July, which ironically is the birthday of Wole Soyinka – a prominent public intellectual. One would wonder if this was premeditated or just mere coincidence.

Our public intellectuals like Wole Soyinka faulted our suspicions which they treated as rumors. But few of us have learned long ago to distrust our citizenship and the political leadership that shaped it. We refused to symbolize what makes us Nigerians in order to break away from the tragic cycle.

Our truths were labeled as propaganda and we were termed as secessionists peddling falsehood. But any reasonable person will agree that the Nigerian political cabals and the British government had played a joker on the collective intelligence of Nigerians.
