The final squad announcements for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have revealed a new generation of football talent preparing to compete alongside some of the sport’s most established stars.

The tournament will feature players ranging from 43-year-old veteran Craig Gordon to 17-year-old Mexican prospect Gilberto Mora, highlighting the remarkable age diversity across the competition.

In total, 22 teenagers under 20 years old have been selected by their national teams, while seven players aged 40 and above are also heading to the World Cup. FIFA’s confirmed squad lists also show that 891 players will make their World Cup debuts.

Leading the list of the youngest participants is Mexico’s Gilberto Mora, who has emerged as one of the country’s brightest prospects and becomes the youngest player at the tournament.

The second-youngest player is Czech midfielder Hugo Sochurek, followed by Germany’s Lennart Karl, another teenager tipped for a bright future.

Senegal boast two players among the youngest participants — Ibrahim Mbaye and Bara Sapoko Ndiaye — underlining the strength of the country’s youth development system.

Egypt’s Hamza Abdelkarim also makes the list, while Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Mladen Jurkas joins the tournament as one of the youngest defenders selected.

Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has also earned a place among the youngest players, with many observers viewing him as a future star for the Atlas Lions.

Spain account for two names in the top 10. Pau Cubarsi has already established himself as one of Europe’s most promising defenders, while Lamine Yamal enters the World Cup as arguably the most recognised teenage footballer in the world.

Having already become a star for both Spain and FC Barcelona, Yamal is widely expected to be one of the breakout attractions of the 2026 tournament.
