Iran has escalated its rhetoric in the ongoing Middle East conflict, warning that hotels housing American troops across the region could be treated as military targets.

Speaking on state television, military spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said any civilian facility used by U.S. forces would lose its protected status.

“When all the Americans (forces) go into a hotel, then from our perspective that hotel becomes American,” he said.

“Should we just stand by and let the Americans strike us? When we respond, naturally we have to strike wherever they are.”

The warning follows the February 28 strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, which triggered a broader regional war. Since then, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks against Israeli and U.S. targets.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi further accused U.S. troops of embedding themselves in civilian environments within Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

“From the outset of this war, US soldiers fled military bases in the GCC to hide in hotels and offices,” he said, urging hospitality operators to refuse them accommodation.

Reports by Fars News Agency indicate that Iran has sent direct warnings to hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, while also tracking similar activity in Syria, Lebanon, and Djibouti.

Tehran continues to accuse regional neighbours of enabling U.S. military operations, allegations Gulf states have consistently rejected, maintaining that their territory will not be used to launch attacks against Iran.
