Entertainer and activist Francis Agoda has urged sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s police system, calling on Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to rebuild public trust through accountability and transparency.

In a strongly worded open letter, I Go Dye reacted to the killing of a young boy in Warri, describing it as part of a troubling pattern of abuse by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said many Nigerians now fear encounters with law enforcement, alleging that interactions often involve harassment and intimidation rather than protection, fueling widespread anger and distrust.

Drawing from the lessons of the End SARS protests, he insisted that meaningful reform must go beyond rhetoric to include visible justice.

“Any officer found responsible for unlawful killings or abuse must face the full weight of the law… Not internal discipline alone, but criminal accountability,” he wrote.

He warned that without transparent action, public frustration could escalate again, stressing that the situation represents a defining moment for the police leadership.

I Go Dye further advocated reforms such as improved officer welfare, enhanced training, and community policing grounded in mutual respect.

“This is the time to act decisively… Nigeria needs a police force that restores hope, not fear,” he stated.
