The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has dismissed reports claiming it banned songs by Burna Boy, describing the information as inaccurate and misleading.

DJAN National President, Prince Akim Edeh, made this known in a statement on Thursday, urging media organisations to refrain from spreading the false claims.

The association also condemned the misuse of its logo in circulating the reports and clarified that it had no involvement in any such decision.

While addressing the incident involving DJ Tunez, DJAN said it is closely monitoring ongoing investigations and remains committed to maintaining professionalism and harmony within the music industry. It also noted that DJ Tunez is not a member of the association.

The statement partly reads:

“We noted with grave concern reports surrounding a recent incident involving a Disc Jockey and Burna Boy… we maintain a firm and unwavering stance against any form of violence or physical confrontation.”

DJAN reaffirmed its position on industry unity:

“DJAN remains committed to fostering a healthy and collaborative environment between all practitioners and performing artists within the music space.”

It called for patience as authorities investigate the matter:

“We urge the public to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.”

Dismissing the rumours, the association concluded:

“We didn’t and have no intention to place ban on Burna Boy’s music or any other artist.”

The alleged incident took place at Obi’s House in Lagos, where DJ Tunez was reportedly assaulted after playing music by Wizkid instead of Burna Boy.
