Pro-Tinubu Igbo Forum Rejects Obi–Kwankwaso Alliance as Electoral Threat for 2027

The NdIgbo for Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI–ABAT), a coalition supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has dismissed speculation about a potential joint ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as “neither formidable nor feasible” under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Secretary General Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke Jr., the forum argued that the proposed alliance would not threaten Tinubu’s re-election prospects.

NDI–ABAT further claimed that rumours linking Obi and Kwankwaso’s potential collaboration to the influence of a former president lack verifiable evidence. While noting Obi’s visit to Kano and other interactions with Kwankwaso, the group insisted these do not signal a credible electoral force.

The forum highlighted internal opposition dynamics, pointing to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s continued political relevance as a factor that could hinder coalition plans.

NDI–ABAT expressed confidence in Tinubu’s strong support, particularly in the South-East, and cited efforts by Minister of Works David Umahi to consolidate backing.

The group concluded that any emerging opposition alignments—including Obi–Kwankwaso tickets—are unlikely to reshape the political landscape for 2027, though political observers note that alliances and party dynamics are likely to evolve as the elections draw closer.
