The North Is Bleeding—But Its Governors Are Busy Fighting in Abuja -By Yasir Shehu Adam
Because leadership is not about controlling a party secretariat.
Leadership is about protecting lives.
And anyone who forgets that has no reason being in power.
Nigeria is burning, but our politicians are busy fighting for control of a party office.
On Monday in Abuja, the PDP national secretariat became a boxing ring. Security men pushed one another, teargas filled the air, and party leaders behaved like people with no training, no shame, and no sense of responsibility.
At the center of the chaos was Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister—locked in a fight not only with northern governors, but with almost the entire opposition faction inside the PDP.
Wike’s camp wants control.
The other faction wants control.
And the people of Nigeria?
They get nothing but more suffering.
This is not leadership.
This is madness.
A Party Fighting for Power Instead of Fighting for Nigeria
Let us tell ourselves the truth:
The PDP is tearing itself apart over leadership positions while the country is tearing apart from insecurity and poverty.
Wike is fighting governors.
Governors are fighting Wike.
Party officials are fighting each other.
Security aides are fighting security aides.
And ordinary citizens are fighting for their lives in the North.
Northern Governors: Busy in Abuja, Silent at Home
While this political drama is happening in Abuja, northern states continue to bleed.
Villagers in Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Sokoto, Borno, Taraba, Plateau, Yobe—and even Bauchi—live in fear every single day.
Bandits strike.
Children disappear.
Farmers are killed on their own land.
But instead of forming a strong regional security plan…
Instead of bringing new ideas to support the federal government…
Instead of showing courage and leadership…
Northern governors are in Abuja joining political fights that bring no value to their people.
Bauchi State: A Clear Example of Misplaced Priorities
Look at Bauchi State.
People are crying:
– poor education
– weak health facilities
– rising insecurity in rural communities
– no serious development projects
– no long-term plan for the youth
But the governor is in Abuja engaging in party battles instead of focusing on his citizens.
How can a governor fighting for party control solve insecurity?
How can leaders who cannot secure their villages secure a nation?
Wike vs PDP Faction: A Fight That Helps Nobody
Let’s be clear:
Wike is not only fighting northern governors—
he is fighting the entire opposition wing inside the PDP that refuses to bow to him.
This is a power struggle.
Not a leadership struggle.
Not a development struggle.
Not a struggle to protect Nigerians.
Just a struggle for control.
Our Leaders Are Lost
While PDP leaders fight over microphones and meeting halls, the real problems of Nigeria remain untouched.
• Security?* Worsening.
– Food price? Increasing.
– Poverty? Rising.
– Education? Falling.
– Trust in leadership? Finished.
But these men still believe they deserve our votes?
Northerners Must Wake Up Now
Dear northern citizens,
2027 is coming.
We cannot continue voting for people who forget us.
We cannot continue voting for leaders who care more about politics than human lives.
We cannot continue rewarding failure.
We must ask:
• Who can protect us?
• Who can create jobs?
• Who can fix education?
• Who can secure our villages?
• Who can bring real development?
People who spend their time fighting for party leadership—
Wike, Bala Mohammed, and the entire political class involved—
do not deserve our support unless they change completely.
A Final Message
The North is suffering.
Nigeria is suffering.
And while the people cry, the politicians fight.
History will judge them.
And in the next election, the people should judge them too.
Because leadership is not about controlling a party secretariat.
Leadership is about protecting lives.
