TSO’s Endorsement of Governor Alia: A Strategic Signal of National Alignment and Renewed Hope for Benue -By Leonard Karshima Shilgba

TSO’s endorsement sends several messages. First, that Benue is no longer politically isolated, but now an engaged partner in the national dialogue. Second, that Governor Alia is not an outsider to the Renewed Hope family, but a visible face of its sub-national implementation. Third, that national support groups with direct links to the presidency are closely monitoring and recognizing genuine service delivery, especially in historically underserved states like Benue.

The recent endorsement of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State by the Tinubu Support Organization (TSO) is far more than a routine gesture of political solidarity—it is a deeply symbolic affirmation of Governor Alia’s alignment with the national development trajectory under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Tinubu Support Organization (TSO)  is not a fringe or regional political group. It is a broad-based, national grassroots movement, established ahead of the 2023 general elections to mobilize support for then-presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. TSO rapidly grew into one of the most visible, structured, and organized support groups across Nigeria and among Nigerians in the diaspora. With chapters in all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, TSO boasts a vast network of political mobilizers, coordinators, and youth leaders.
TSO’s founding patron is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself, and the organization has, since his victory, continued to operate as a watchdog and partner in the delivery of his administration’s promises. It is known for holding public leaders accountable while endorsing those who embody the core values of the Renewed Hope vision—transparency, inclusiveness, fiscal discipline, and grassroots development.
Governor Hyacinth Alia’s emergence as one of TSO’s favoured state leaders is a noteworthy development. It reflects recognition from the highest echelons of the President’s loyal support structure. In just two years, Alia has demonstrated a capacity for reform and integrity uncommon in a region historically mired in poor governance and politicized impunity. His clearing of salary arrears (dating back to 2017), rollout of strategic rural infrastructure, restoration of once moribund public industries, and commitment to transparency in appointments and procurement are marks of a governor not merely in office, but at work; not in office just to  appease conventional but insidious “honor and protocol” routines, but a governor who is respectfully serving the people of Benue State while endearing to them himself and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which they overwhelmingly voted into power in 2023 as “Parti u Father,” meaning “Father’s party”. Indeed, APC is popularly known in Benue as “Father’s party”, and his party’s government in Benue has not disappointed the people.
As TSO’s structure reaches the grassroots—ward by ward, local government by local government—this endorsement may catalyze greater citizen confidence, boost federal attention, and unlock developmental partnerships. It signals that Benue, under Alia, is not only cleaning up the past but forging a future that resonates with Nigeria’s broader aspirations.
The future of governance in Nigeria rests not in abstract policy, but in leaders who translate vision into action. In this regard, the TSO’s spotlight on Governor Alia is not just praise—it is an invitation to even greater service and a model for what responsible sub-national leadership should be.
Indeed, Benue is rising. And the TSO, with its eyes on every state and voice in the ears of the presidency, has taken note. It is now left to Governor Alia and the people of Benue to turn this national nod into a legacy of renewal.
Benue ko ni baje o. Nigeria ko ni baje. Without doubt, the Tinubu-Alia partnership is good for Benue even as it is for Nigeria.
