Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua believes his showdown with Tyson Fury could end as early as the opening round when the two British heavyweights meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11.

Joshua gave his prediction after coming face-to-face with Fury in London on Wednesday, following the confirmation of their long-awaited all-British heavyweight fight.

The venue for the highly anticipated bout had previously been uncertain, as Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, had been keen for the contest to take place in the UK.

For Joshua, staging the fight in Britain was particularly important because of the support from fans.

When asked about his expectations for fight night, Joshua responded confidently.

“A knockout, if I am honest with you. Could be in the first round,” he said.

Joshua also said he remained committed to making the bout happen regardless of whether his preferred UK venue was secured.

“I wanted to do everything I could to make it happen, and part of that was it being in the UK, and we got that, so we are here,” he said.
