CP Fata Owoseni

The emergence of CP Fatai A. Owoseni (Rtd) as a governorship aspirant under the banner of the Accord Party for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State is undoubtedly a breath of fresh air and a defining moment in the political history of the state. His ambition represents not just another political contest, but a movement anchored on integrity, competence, security, transparency, economic growth, and people-centered governance.

At a time when citizens yearn for purposeful leadership and a government that truly understands the challenges of the people, CP Owoseni stands out as a tested administrator, seasoned security strategist, and compassionate leader with a deep understanding of governance and public service.

Born on August 17, 1962, CP Owoseni’s life has been defined by discipline, service, and excellence. His educational background reflects intellectual depth and preparation for leadership. He earned a degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Benin, a Diploma in Police Management from the University of Jos, and later obtained a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies (Security Sector Management) from the University of Ibadan.

Beyond the classroom, his remarkable career in the Nigeria Police Force spanning over 35 years speaks volumes about his capacity to lead. Rising through the ranks to become Commissioner of Police, Owoseni distinguished himself in various strategic roles across the country, including the Lagos and Benue State Commands, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

His wealth of experience extends beyond Nigeria. Through United Nations peacekeeping missions in Darfur, Sudan, and Angola, he demonstrated uncommon professionalism and competence in conflict resolution, policing strategy, and transitional security operations. Such global exposure places him in a unique position to provide visionary leadership capable of repositioning Oyo State for greatness.

Leadership is not merely about occupying office; it is about impact, trust, and service to humanity. Since retiring from the police force, CP Owoseni has continued to contribute meaningfully to society. His appointment in August 2019 by Seyi Makinde as Special Adviser on Security and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund further demonstrated the confidence reposed in his expertise and character.

Today, he remains actively involved in shaping public safety and governance as a security consultant to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, principal partner at HK-George Consults Limited, and founder of the Ayesha-Nihinlola Foundation, through which he continues to champion educational advancement and social support for vulnerable communities.

Indeed, his passion for education and youth development aligns perfectly with the urgent need to invest in human capital development in Oyo State. A government led by CP Owoseni would undoubtedly prioritize quality education for all, empower young people with skills and opportunities, and create an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.

His ambition is built on clear pillars that resonate deeply with the aspirations of the people: good governance, economic growth, education for all, transparent leadership, security, peace, and sustainable development. These are not empty political slogans but values he has consistently demonstrated throughout his life and career.

Security remains one of the most critical challenges confronting many states in Nigeria today. Oyo State deserves a leader who understands the complexities of modern security architecture and possesses the experience to effectively coordinate intelligence, law enforcement, and community-based peacebuilding. CP Owoseni’s decades of experience in policing and security management make him exceptionally qualified to secure lives and property while fostering peaceful coexistence across communities.

Equally inspiring is the recognition accorded to him in January 2026, when he was conferred with the prestigious title of Atunluse-Ilu Adini of Oyo State by the Chief Imam of Ibadan and the League of Imams and Alfas of Oyo State. The honour was bestowed in recognition of his enduring contributions to peace, security, integrity, and community development. Such recognition reflects the trust and admiration he commands across religious and social divides.

As Oyo State prepares for the future, the people must begin to embrace leaders with proven competence, integrity, and vision. The state deserves a governor who will not merely govern from the comfort of office but one who understands sacrifice, discipline, accountability, and service.

CP Fatai A. Owoseni (Rtd) represents that possibility.

His governorship ambition is truly a new dawn for a stronger Oyo and a greater tomorrow. With him at the helm under the Accord Party, Oyo State can build the future its residents have long dreamed of, a future of peace, prosperity, security, transparency, economic advancement, and inclusive development.

The journey to 2027 may still be unfolding, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the aspiration of CP Fatai Owoseni (Rtd), is inspiring hope among citizens who desire competent and transformational leadership.
