Tension and concern have spread across Kogi State Polytechnic following the sudden death of lecturer, Mr. Anslem Ojodomo, who reportedly collapsed while teaching students.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has deepened anxiety within the institution, coming just weeks after the death of another lecturer, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, in February shortly after he completed his PhD.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that Ojodomo slumped during a lecture, causing panic among students.

“The lecturer suddenly slumped while addressing the students, throwing the class into confusion and panic,” a source within the school disclosed.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.

Sources within the institution say the development has heightened apprehension, as it marks the third death recorded within six weeks of the new Rector, Prof. Salihu Sanusi, assuming office on February 11.

“It is more worrisome that both Anslem and Barnabas died after defending their PhD thesis,” a staff member said.

“Anslem was in a meeting some hours before going for the lecture. We cannot imagine that a man who was bubbling and full of life in the meeting is now dead.”

The institution’s management has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
