It is always good to identify with an appreciate one whose life and values impact on the lives of others in a positive way. And that is why I cannot stop writing about or appreciating great people like Hajia Hadiza Mohammed whose life mirrors our cherished values of love, sacrifice and service. Hajia Hadiza Mohammed is a rare gem. It is difficult in this era of narcissism and self-love to see somebody like Dije as she is fondly called, who is selfless and accommodating. Wherever Hajia is, you see people flock around her. When it comes to care and humanitarian services, the likes of Hajia Hadiza Mohammed are rarel. Therefore, it is a thing of joy for me to write on personalities like her as a way of motivating others especially the youth to strive to imbibe the attitude of service and sacrifice.

Hajia Hadiza Mohammed is an activist per excellence. She is a public affair commentator, a political enthusiast, a writer, an actress. I find it pleasurable always to read her essays especially on public policy syndicated to different media platforms. Dije as she is fondly called by those around her is a thoroughbred Nigerian. Born in the West of a Fulani parentage and trained and schooled South. She lives and works in UK where she operates overseeing the affairs of many projects at home.  Her life revolves around humanity. She thinks the whole purpose of life is service; service to others especially the vulnerable groups in the society. She coordinates the activities of some not-for-profit organizations that cater for the affairs of the girl-child, the widows, orphans and the others in the society; providing support, training and empowerment.

She is an activist per excellence and a dogged fighter for what she believes in. She believes in civil advocacy, democracy, good governance and purposeful leadership. This explains her incursion into partisan politics. She believes politics should not be for self-enrichment but for service to the people. She was of the opinion that politics should not be left for in the hands of never-do-wells and that good people should participate in politics in order to sanitize the polity.

Hajia Hadiza is a political enthusiast and policy contractor and an influencer. Her incursion into partisan politics is borne out her desire to influence public policy for good governance in Nigeria. She is one of the Diaspora Nigerians and yet she keeps tabs of what is happening within the country because of her love for the country. She is a firm believer in democratic tenets without which, to her, politics would be baseless.  She says that her dream is to influence policies that will make Nigeria build strong institutions and develop workable systems that will cater for the interest of all.

I celebrate this lady of many parts today, the 10th day of June, which is her birthday. And, as I felicitate with her, my mind dwells on her many contributions to humanity and the lifting of many in need. From Sokoto, the birth of her ancestors to community to Asaba where she was trained to Lagos and London her place of abode, she left her footprint in the sand of time; she touched lives and make people happy.
