“Karma is Real”: Mr Ibu’s Widow and Alleged First Wife Clash After King Mitchy Interview -By Hawa Favour Fali

Mr Ibu’s first son, Valentine Okafor, also reacted through actor Fred Ebere, aka Tenkobo. He said he was not against fundraising, but disagreed with the idea that the actor left nothing. “Mr Ibu had invested in landed properties during his lifetime. What became of those assets?” he asked.

Two months after electricity was cut off and school fees went unpaid, the family of late Nollywood legend Mr Ibu is now fighting in public.

The crisis started after Mr Ibu’s widow, Stella Maris Okafor, sat down with content creator *King Mitchy* on June 24, 2026. In the video, Stella said she and her three children, aged 10, 12 and 14, are struggling to survive.

“We fetch water from the well because I haven’t paid the rent, and they’ve disconnected our electricity for two months,” she said. “We’ve been searching for places to charge our phones every night. It’s very tough.”

Her daughter Chelsea added that school fees have not been paid, so the children are out of class. “She tries everything she can to feed us, pay our school fees and make us happy,” Chelsea said.

King Mitchy described Mr Ibu as “a legend” whose films shaped her childhood. She said donations were being raised for rent and to take the children back to school.

“You sold our husband’s land”
The interview triggered a response from Mr Ibu’s alleged first wife. In a video posted hours later, she accused Stella of mismanaging money donated after the actor’s death in 2024.

“Stella, you arrested my son and Jasmine… because of the money Nigerians donated,” she said. “You sold the land in Enugu for about 18 million without telling anybody, and you shared it with your children. You sold Mr Ibu’s Lagos house and took money meant for his burial.”

She also challenged Stella’s claim to be the only wife: “What about Amara, Verintan, Onyebuchi, the twins in Port Harcourt? Are they not my husband’s children?”

“Karma is real, and it is coming after you,” she concluded.

First son speaks up
Mr Ibu’s first son, Valentine Okafor, also reacted through actor Fred Ebere, aka Tenkobo. He said he was not against fundraising, but disagreed with the idea that the actor left nothing. “Mr Ibu had invested in landed properties during his lifetime. What became of those assets?” he asked.
