The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the resurgence of bandit attacks across communities in Katsina State, describing the killings of security personnel and residents as alarming.

Speaking in Katsina on Sunday, the party’s state chairman, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, said the situation reflects failures in governance and security management.

He extended condolences to affected families and communities, especially in Matazu and Musawa LGAs, where lives were lost during the attacks.

According to him, the incidents came as a shock, as the party was in a meeting when it received the news, which he described as a grim reminder of the deteriorating security situation.

Tukur-Batagarawa said several villages were impacted, with reports of deaths and destruction of property by armed assailants.

He expressed concern that the violence persists despite peace agreements in some areas, questioning the effectiveness of current measures.

“The primary responsibility of any government is to guarantee the safety and security of lives and property,” he said.

He called on the federal and state governments to act swiftly and decisively to curb the insecurity, warning that failure to do so could worsen the crisis.

The ADC chairman also criticised what he described as inadequate responses by authorities, stressing the need for coordinated action among security agencies.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to tackling insecurity and improving safety if given the opportunity to govern.
