Kebbi ADC Candidate Challenges Alleged Forged Withdrawal, Sues Party and INEC

Kebbi ADC candidate Abubakar Saadu alleges his withdrawal from the 2027 election was forged and calls for investigation by security agencies.

Abubakar Sadiq Saadu, the ADC candidate for the Zuru/Fakai/Sakaba/Danko-Wasagu Federal Constituency in Kebbi State, has taken legal action over an alleged forged affidavit purportedly withdrawing him from the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Saadu, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, described the purported withdrawal document as a forgery and demanded an investigation into those allegedly responsible.

He explained that he won the ADC primary election for the constituency and was subsequently submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s candidate.

The candidate said he was recently informed of an affidavit allegedly sworn on July 28, 2026, before a Commissioner for Oath at the High Court of Justice, Maitama, Abuja.

According to him, the affidavit, identified by Affidavit Code 6A68730EA37ED, falsely stated that he had voluntarily withdrawn from the House of Representatives contest.

Saadu denied ever appearing before the Commissioner for Oath or signing the document. He also said he never authorised anyone to swear to the affidavit on his behalf.

“My passport photograph, which I submitted to the ADC, was used to fraudulently swear the oath,” he alleged.

He questioned the authenticity of the document, alleging that it featured a computer-generated letterhead, an incorrect address and an inaccurate name for the ADC.

In response, Saadu said he swore to a counter-affidavit at the High Court of Justice, Garki, Abuja, on August 14, 2026.

He confirmed that a suit had also been filed and would come up for hearing on Monday, August 17.

Saadu called on INEC to disregard the alleged withdrawal affidavit and confirm his candidacy using its official records.

He equally requested investigations by the Nigeria Police Force, EFCC, ICPC and DSS to establish how the alleged forged document was produced and identify those behind it.

He further appealed to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory and the Nigerian Bar Association to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged swearing of the affidavit before a Commissioner for Oath.

Saadu said any judicial officer or legal practitioner found culpable should face the appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences.

He also asked the ADC National Working Committee and the Kebbi State chapter to notify INEC and relevant security agencies that he remains the authentic candidate and to disown the alleged forged documents.

The ADC candidate additionally urged the party and INEC to reject an alleged plan to hold another primary election for the constituency on August 18 and 19.

He described the proposed exercise as an attempt to undermine his candidature and alleged that the individual being considered as his replacement was not an ADC member when INEC’s online membership registration closed.

“Therefore, no possibility for him to replace any candidate with a valid primary,” Saadu said.

He warned that failure to resolve the issue promptly could lead to tension in the constituency.

Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Zuru/Fakai/Sakaba/Danko-Wasagu Federal Constituency, Saadu insisted that their mandate was not for sale.

He vowed to continue pursuing the matter through the appropriate legal channels and ensure that anyone responsible is held accountable under the law.
