Manchester United Top FA Community Shield Roll of Honour With 21 Titles

Manchester United remain the most decorated club in FA Community Shield history, with 21 titles to their name.

The Red Devils claimed the competition’s first-ever trophy in 1908 after overcoming Queens Park Rangers in a replay.

The initial meeting between Manchester United and QPR ended 1-1 on April 27, 1908, meaning the inaugural Charity Shield winner had to be decided in a second encounter.

United returned to face QPR at the end of August and produced an emphatic 4-0 victory to become the first club to win the trophy.

James Turnbull played a starring role in the historic match, scoring three goals to complete a hat-trick and help United secure a comfortable victory.

Manchester United have maintained their position at the summit of the competition’s all-time winners’ chart more than a century later, with 21 titles.

Arsenal are the second-most successful club with 17 Community Shield victories, while Liverpool have collected the trophy 16 times.

Everton follow with nine titles, while Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have each won the competition seven times.

The Community Shield has provided plenty of memorable moments since its inception, including one of its most entertaining matches in 1911.

That year, Manchester United defeated Swindon Town 8-4 in a remarkable 12-goal contest.
