Governor Dapo Abiodun praises Osun voters for their peaceful conduct and congratulates Adeleke on his victory in the August 15 governorship poll.
Governor of Ogun State and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
Abiodun said Adeleke’s re-election reflected the decision of the people of Osun State and described the election outcome as another demonstration of the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic system.
In a statement, the Ogun State governor praised Osun voters for their peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process.
He called on political leaders and other stakeholders in the state to prioritise peace, unity and development rather than partisan interests.
Abiodun also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring what he described as a level playing field for all parties and candidates during the election.
The governor said Tinubu had demonstrated that he was a true democrat through his commitment to democratic values and the independence of the electoral process.
According to Abiodun, the President’s approach had helped strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s democracy while reaffirming the ballot as the primary means through which citizens determine their choice of leaders.
He also congratulated every candidate who contested the election, saying their participation contributed to the democratic process.
The Southern Governors’ Forum chairman urged the candidates and their supporters to accept the result in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Abiodun wished Adeleke a successful second term and expressed optimism that the governor would work with relevant stakeholders to advance the development and prosperity of Osun State.
He further reaffirmed the Southern Governors’ Forum’s commitment to democratic values, good governance, peaceful coexistence and regional cooperation for the benefit of Nigerians in the southern region.
