Tinubu Identity Crisis And Integrity Issue -By Hajia Hadiza Mohammed
In advanced environment characters like Tinubu would not be allowed to contest any elections let alone hold public office. If Tinubu’s past is so ugly that he cannot he cannot disclose it to those he is supposed to lead then he loses the right to lead. A man without a good antecedent is unfit to lead a people.
As it was in 2023 before the general elections there is a renewed public in different media platforms across the nation following the INEC publication of the credentials of the candidates of the political parties jostling for the office of the president in the forthcoming general election in 2027. And as before, Tinubu whose past seems shrouded in mystery is the main focus as his doubtful identity is generating outrage from members of the public since his recent electoral submissions for the 2023 and 2027 presidential polls contrasted sharply with certified true copies of his filings in 1999 when he contested for the post of governor of Lagos State. For instance, while Tinubu’s 1999 filing with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contained detailed listings of primary and secondary schools, subsequent filings have omitted basic education entries, relying exclusively on his tertiary qualification.
In the 1999 INEC form, Tinubu has stated that he attended St. Paul Aroloya Children Home School, Ibadan between 1958 and 1964, Government College, Ibadan between 1965 and 1968 and Richard Daley College, Chicago, USA between 1969 and 1971. And under tertiary and professional entries, Tinubu recorded that he attended University of Chicago (1972-1976), Chicago State University (1977-1979), and worked with Arthur Anderson, Deloitte Haskin & Sells, and Mobil Oil Nigeria. And in contrast, in his recent fillings at the INEC, he left the primary and secondary school sections blank, listing only his B.Sc. degree from Chicago State University.
This omission is creating doubt and suspicion. Critics have argued and rightly too that the omission is deliberate to avoid scrutiny over basic school records which is not available. Investigations then in early years of his governorship in Lagos reveals that he never attended any of the schools he claimed to have attended. Tinubu never tended any certificates nor mentioned any one to be his classmate neither has anyone come up to say that he was his class or school mate. In a kind of disclaimer, Tinubu had claimed that his nomination form then was filled without his knowledge by Tokunbo Afikuyomi. Festus Keyamo who is Tinubu’s current minister of Aviation had taken Tinubu and Lagos State House of Assembly to court then over allegation of certificate forgery and age falsification.
Clearly, that Tinubu fails to disclose his true identity means that he has something undesirable to hide from his past. And there are many insinuations from different quarters. There was a story circulated in the social media earlier that Tinubu true name is Amoda Yekini Ogunlere from Iragbiji in Osun State. The name Bola Tinubu belongs to a lady and the record from Chicago State University which Tinubu is claiming actually belongs to a lady as the school records indicates. And Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not whom he claims to be. In 2022, shortly before the sham election that brought Tinubu to power, the authentic Tinubu family in Isale-Eko, Lagos published a disclaimer on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Again, Tinubu’s claim to have worked with Deloitte and Mobil Oil Nigeria as contained in his INEC form in 1999 has been found to be false since there is no official evidence to back up the claim. The only available evidence of Tinubu’s past was his involvement in drug-trafficking which led to the forfeiture of the sum of $460,000 to the US government in 1993. There has been obvious desperation in the camp of Tinubu to cover up his messy past. Donald Duke has complained that Tinubu group are using his old picture when he was twelve as if it is Tinubu’s. Also, the 52 year-old Tinubu-look-alike Olamide Salami Kayode whose NYSC picture the group is brandishing as Tinubu’s has threatened to sue if they did not desist from using his image. In 2024, after his inauguration, Tinubu spent $2.7 million to hire a US lobby PR firm to lobby to cover up his drug and certificate scandal.
From all of these, it is self-evident that Tinubu is trying to hide his ugly past from the world. This exemplifies insincerity and fraud. It is only a criminal that will want to shield his ugly past from the public. It is a clear lack of integrity and character. If a leader cannot be sincere to disclose his past, he cannot be trusted. Nigerians deserve to know the true identity of the one who is taking decisions that affect their lives. Tinubu has taken Nigerians for granted for too long. Tinubu is running Nigeria like a mafia syndicate with a horde of past criminals. Tinubu is not qualified in any way to lead Nigeria because of his past records, association with criminal drug syndicates and the fact he did not do the mandatory national youth service.
Without doubt, Tinubu’s identity issue is placing Nigeria in bad repute. It depicts Nigeria as a fraudulent people; a nation of knaves and criminality. Tinubu should resign or be impeached. But I know the current leadership of the National Assembly cannot do it and Tinubu has no integrity to protect or resign and INEC cannot stop him from contesting. The only option is for Nigerians to vote him out by any means necessary come 2027.
