Trump announces rescue of two US pilots in Iran, issuing a 48-hour warning as regional conflict intensifies.

Donald Trump has announced that US forces rescued a second airman in Iran, amid rising tensions and ongoing military exchanges across the Middle East.

He described the operation as “one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History,” noting that the airman had been stranded in hostile territory.

“This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies,” Trump said, adding: “He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine.”

He revealed that another pilot had been rescued earlier, but the mission was kept secret to avoid compromising the second operation.

“This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm,” he said.

The announcement came shortly after Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, warning: “Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them.”

Iran rejected the threat, with General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi calling it a “helpless, nervous, unbalanced and stupid action,” and warning that “the gates of hell will open for you.”

The conflict has intensified across the region, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks on Israel, Kuwait, and other Gulf states. Air defence systems were activated in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, where a refinery fire was reported.

Strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz remain under pressure, heightening concerns about global energy supply disruptions.

A strike near the Bushehr nuclear plant has further raised alarm. While no radiation increase has been recorded, Rafael Grossi said the situation is concerning.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that continued attacks could result in radioactive fallout affecting Gulf countries.

Former IAEA chief Mohamed El-Baradei also called for urgent intervention, warning of the risk of wider regional devastation.

As strikes increasingly target economic and industrial sites, analysts warn the conflict could further destabilise global energy markets and deepen regional insecurity.
