The Anambra State Executive Council has approved over N777 million for strategic projects spanning infrastructure upgrades and security support across the state.

The approvals cover N164.4 million as additional cost for completing an IAAF-standard five-lane spray system track and natural grass pitch at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex in Aguata LGA.

A further N72.7 million was approved for road markings and thermoplastic speed bumps along the 10.043-kilometre Afor Nkpor–Eke Obosi Road in Idemili North LGA.

To enhance security operations, the Council earmarked N122 million for the installation of 10 formatted 40-foot containers to provide temporary shelter for security personnel at designated locations.

Other allocations include N172.2 million for asphalt surfacing of the internal dual carriage driveway at the International Convention Centre, Awka; N176 million for asphalt works on the service lane linking the State House of Assembly and the State High Court Complex in Awka; and N72.6 million for additional road markings and speed bumps on the Afor Nkpor–Eke Obosi Road.

The Council also acknowledged the sentencing of native doctor Chidozie Nwangwu, also known as Akwa Ọkụkụ Tiwara Akị, alongside the demolition of his shrine and ritual items. The development was described as part of ongoing efforts to promote moral discipline and social stability.

According to Information Commissioner Law Mefor, the move reinforces social order and aligns with the Igbo value system centered on hard work.

In addition, EXCO approved arrangements for the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim on March 17, 2026.

Scheduled events include an interdenominational service on March 15, the swearing-in ceremony on March 17, and a thanksgiving service on March 22, with subcommittees established to oversee preparations.
