APC Chieftain Links Massive Rivers Rally Turnout to Wike’s Mobilisation Power
Princewill Dike has attributed the large crowd at the Rainbow Coalition rally in Port Harcourt to Wike’s grassroots connections and political organisation.
PORT HARCOURT — Princewill Dike, an APC chieftain in Rivers State, has attributed the large turnout at Tuesday’s Rainbow Coalition rally in Port Harcourt to the political influence and grassroots mobilisation network of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The rally, held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, was organised to unveil candidates of the coalition for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event, Dike said the crowd reflected Wike’s political organisation, his connections at the grassroots and his capacity to bring supporters together.
He maintained that the turnout challenged claims by critics who questioned President Bola Tinubu’s political support base in Rivers State.
“The massive crowd at the gathering is an indication that the President has substantial political backing in the state, contrary to claims by antagonists of the FCT Minister’s political influence,” he said.
Dike praised the organisation of the rally, saying its success was the result of careful planning and the willingness of supporters to turn out in solidarity with the political movement.
He also described Wike as a pace-setter, adding that the minister’s political record and ability to mobilise supporters would be difficult for opponents to surpass.
In a related development, Wike announced that President Tinubu’s proposed campaign rally in Port Harcourt, scheduled for November 7, 2026, would be held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
Dike said he expected the presidential rally to draw a crowd similar to Tuesday’s gathering and expressed confidence that the stadium would be filled to capacity.
He noted that the turnout at the coalition event had raised expectations for the forthcoming rally, while stressing the need for proper crowd control to avoid overcrowding and ensure public safety.
The APC chieftain further expressed relief that no casualties were recorded during Tuesday’s rally. He thanked God for what he described as a peaceful and successful gathering.
