APC delegates affirm Radda as Katsina governorship candidate for 2027

Governor Dikko Radda has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Katsina State for the 2027 elections following his unanimous endorsement by party delegates.

The affirmation exercise, held in Katsina on Thursday, was monitored by officials from the APC national headquarters.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the consensus exercise, Dr Yakubu Maccido, announced that 160 delegates endorsed Radda through a voice vote in line with provisions of the Electoral Act and party guidelines.

He thereafter declared the governor as the APC’s official governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.

Maccido also handed over declaration of result forms for other elective positions to party leaders.

Speaking at the event, APC National Vice Zonal Chairman Alhaji Datti Garba praised members of the party for ensuring a peaceful and orderly exercise.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, noted that Katsina successfully adopted the consensus arrangement without internal disputes.

Former governor Aminu Bello Masari called on aggrieved aspirants and party supporters to rally behind Radda and work towards strengthening party unity.

Masari, who heads the party’s reconciliation committee, urged the governor to remain inclusive in governance and party administration.

He also described the Katsina exercise as exemplary when compared to what happened in some other states.

The former governor appealed to party stakeholders to begin early grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Radda and other APC candidates.

According to him, Katsina remains a major stronghold of the APC.

In his remarks, Radda thanked party leaders, stakeholders and members for endorsing him as the party’s sole candidate.

He promised to justify the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue working for the growth and success of the APC.
