Chukwueze Shines as AC Milan Rally to Defeat Man United 4-2

Samuel Chukwueze played a key role as AC Milan came from behind twice to defeat Manchester United 4-2 in Poland, handing Ruben Amorim victory over his former club.

United raced into an early lead in the second minute when Harry Maguire rose to head Bruno Fernandes’ corner into the net.

The English side almost extended their advantage through Amad Diallo, but Milan began to find their rhythm as the first half progressed.

Senne Lammens kept United ahead with a crucial save to deny Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but Milan eventually drew level in the 37th minute.

Goncalo Ramos provided the assist for Chukwueze, who converted from close range to bring Milan back into the contest.

United then missed an opportunity to retake the lead before the break when Fernandes’ penalty was saved.

Patrick Dorgu restored United’s advantage six minutes after the restart, taking advantage of a poor back-pass by Filippo Terracciano.

But Milan refused to back down and equalised again in the 57th minute. Chukwueze created the opening from the right before delivering for Alphadjo Cisse, who scored at the far post.

The Nigerian winger was involved again just four minutes later, setting up Ramos for a header that put Milan ahead for the first time.

Milan completed the turnaround in the 71st minute when Loftus-Cheek raced through United’s defence and made it 4-2.

United attempted to respond through their substitutes but could not find a way back into the match, allowing Milan to secure an impressive comeback victory.

The fixture also saw a number of United players return to action. Lisandro Martinez was gradually reintroduced following his World Cup involvement, while Kobbie Mainoo also made his comeback.

Rashford also returned from the bench, making his first appearance for Manchester United in 20 months.

The defeat will give United plenty to consider ahead of the new Premier League campaign, particularly after their failure to protect a two-goal lead and their defensive problems against Milan.
