Osun Poll: Oyebamiji Defeats Adeleke at Bisi Akande’s Polling Unit
Accord Party secured 131 votes to defeat APC, which polled 85, at Iyiola Omisore’s polling unit in Ife East LGA during the Osun governorship election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has won the polling unit of the party’s founding interim National Chairman and former state governor, Bisi Akande.
Oyebamiji secured 181 votes at Polling Unit 12, Ward 4, Atogbade area of Ila-Orangun in Ila Local Government Area during Saturday’s governorship election.
His main challenger, Accord Party candidate and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, polled 121 votes at the same polling unit.
Akande had earlier cast his vote at the polling unit as voting got underway.
The former governor led Osun State from 1999 to 2003 under the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
Following his tenure as governor, Akande served as national chairman of the AD, Action Congress (AC) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), holding the leadership positions for 11 years between 2003 and 2014.
He subsequently emerged as the founding interim National Chairman of the APC after the party was formed.
