US President Donald Trump says he will be absent from the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., because of pressing government responsibilities.

Trump revealed the decision in a Friday post on Truth Social, noting that affairs of state and his commitment to the country would prevent him from attending the wedding ceremony of Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson.

The president stated that it was necessary for him to remain focused on national matters at the White House during what he described as a critical time.

“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” he said.

Trump also extended his congratulations and best wishes to the couple ahead of their wedding ceremony.
