Uduaghan Is Alive, Delta Government Says, Debunks Death Reports
Delta officials say rumours of former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s death are false, urging the public to ignore misleading online posts.
The Delta State Government has refuted viral claims suggesting that former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has died, insisting the reports are false and misleading.
In a statement shared on Facebook, media aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Ovie Success, said he personally confirmed the former governor’s condition with his family.
“I have just seen reports circulating online claiming that the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead,” he said.
“Some people have been reaching out to me asking ‘Ossai Ovie Success is the news real?’
“I immediately reached out to his family to confirm.
“I spoke directly with his daughter Orode Uduaghan on the phone, and she confirmed that the news is false.
“Dr Uduaghan is alive.
“I am disappointed at those who spread such false information without verification.”
He further condemned the spread of death rumours, calling them “cruel” and “irresponsible,” and urged the public to avoid sharing unverified news.
The government’s clarification helped ease growing concern after several online reports falsely claimed the former governor had passed on.
