ADC Announces New Venue for Convention After Eagle Square Dispute
African Democratic Congress names Rainbow Event Center as new venue for national convention amid earlier venue controversy.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed a new venue for its national convention in Abuja, just hours after concerns emerged over the lack of a location.
The party said in a post on X that the convention, scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, will now take place at the Rainbow Event Center.
It noted that the venue provides a central and accessible setting for delegates and stakeholders travelling from across Nigeria.
“The choice of Abuja underscores the national significance of the gathering and sets the stage for a well-coordinated convention,” the party stated.
The announcement follows earlier concerns raised by Kola Ologbondiyan, aide to Senator David Mark, who said the party had yet to secure a venue less than 24 hours to the event.
He disclosed that the ADC had applied to use Eagle Square through the office of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, but received no response despite acknowledgement.
“A letter was presented… but no response,” he said, adding that attempts to secure the Moshood Abiola National Stadium also failed.
However, Wike rejected claims of political interference, insisting no formal request had been received and describing the allegations as baseless.
“We do not deny access… Who denied them? I am not aware of any such development,” he said.
The development sets the stage for the ADC convention amid earlier uncertainty over logistics.
