Boeing has announced that China has agreed to purchase 200 aircraft following high-level talks in Beijing during a visit involving US President Donald Trump.

The US aerospace company said the agreement could later expand significantly, with up to 750 additional aircraft potentially included in future orders.

“We had a very successful trip to China and accomplished our major goal of reopening the China market to orders for Boeing aircraft,” Boeing said in a statement, noting that its CEO Kelly Ortberg participated in the delegation.

“This included an initial commitment for 200 aircraft and we expect further commitments will follow after this initial tranche,” the company said, without specifying aircraft types.

Boeing declined to provide details on the models involved when contacted.

The company added: “We now look forward to continually addressing China’s aircraft demand,” while also thanking the Trump administration for facilitating the agreement.

Trump, speaking to Fox News, said China planned to order “200 big ones,” calling the deal significant for American employment. He later told reporters that the arrangement could include “a promise of 750 planes” depending on initial progress.

Reports suggest the potential orders may involve a mix of 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, and 777 aircraft, though Boeing has not confirmed this.

China last placed a Boeing order in 2017, when it agreed to purchase 300 aircraft in a deal valued at $37 billion.
