A Germany-based Ibadan-born politician and Chairman of YSEG Hotels and Suites, Hon Olayinka Segelu, has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for making issues relating to education a top priority in his administration.

Hon Segelu gave the commendation in a statement while reacting to reports indicating that Governor Makinde has given approval for the recruitment of 7, 500 teaching and 3, 000 non-teaching staff into the State Teaching Service, as part of his efforts to advance the education sector in Oyo State.

“Evidently, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has shown great commitment to the growth of education in Oyo State since he came on board as the governor, that is, the man at the helm of affairs of the state. He has been working hard and doing everything possible to see to the improvement of education standard in our dear state.

“This latest development of His Excellency’s approval for the recruitment of 10,500 staff into the State Teaching Service (7,500 teaching and 3,500 non-teaching staff), is a further testament to the desire and determination of our governor to upscale the quality of education in Oyo State.

“As it is rightly said, education is the bedrock for development. It is indeed the key to socio-economic progress. It is education that empowers the people to recognise their full potentials. Therefore, Governor Makinde must be roundly applauded for his zeal and determined efforts towards building a solid structure for the education system in the state. We must support and encourage him to continue to do more in the area of education for the good of our state,” Hon Segelu advised.
