The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in observance of Eid al-Fitr, marking the conclusion of Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who conveyed the Federal Government’s congratulations to Muslims for completing the holy month.

According to a statement released by Permanent Secretary Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged the faithful to continue practising the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice learned during Ramadan.

He further appealed to all Nigerians to use the Eid period to offer prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.

The minister also advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend goodwill to the less privileged, reiterating that, “The federal government remains committed to fostering national unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.”
