Osun Election: Tambuwal Hails Adeleke, Says ‘Democracy Has Won’
Tambuwal hails Adeleke’s Osun victory, commends voters and urges the governor to serve all residents regardless of political affiliation.
Former House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke following his re-election in the Osun State governorship election, saying the result represents a victory for democracy.
Tambuwal, in a Sunday post on X, said Osun voters had once again exercised their constitutional right to determine who would govern them.
According to him, Adeleke’s victory should not be viewed solely as a personal achievement but as a reflection of the power of democratic participation.
“I warmly congratulate His Excellency, Governor Adeleke, on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.
“This victory is not only a personal triumph for Governor Adeleke; it is a victory for democracy and, above all, a victory for the people of Osun State, who have once again exercised their constitutional right to determine who leads them,” Tambuwal said.
He described the ballot as the most powerful way citizens express their will in a democratic system and said respecting electoral choices was essential to strengthening democratic institutions.
“The ballot remains the most powerful expression of the will of the people in a democracy. When citizens freely make their choice and that choice is respected, our democratic institutions are strengthened and public confidence in the electoral process is deepened,” he said.
The former Speaker praised Osun residents for participating in the election and remaining committed to the democratic process.
He also urged Adeleke to approach his second term with a greater sense of responsibility and ensure that his administration serves all residents, regardless of their political affiliations.
“As he prepares to continue the work of governance, I urge him to see this renewed mandate as an even greater responsibility to serve all the people of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation,” Tambuwal said.
Tambuwal wished the governor wisdom, strength and success in his second term.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency. Congratulations to the people of Osun State. Democracy has won,” he added.
