Nigerians can now travel to more African countries without securing a visa beforehand, following the inclusion of Rwanda in the updated visa-free travel list for Nigerian passport holders.

The development is expected to encourage tourism, trade and easier movement across the continent, especially for business and leisure travellers.

Rwanda’s decision adds to the increasing number of African countries easing entry requirements for Nigerians as part of wider efforts to improve regional integration and mobility within Africa.

A large number of the countries on the list belong to the Economic Community of West African States, which promotes free movement among member states through its regional travel protocol.

Despite the visa-free access, travellers may still need to present documents including proof of accommodation, return tickets and vaccination certificates at entry points.
