US Vice President JD Vance has said the Vatican should concentrate on moral guidance rather than political matters, as tensions continue between President Donald Trump and Pope Leo XIV over Iran.

Speaking during an interview on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier, Vance suggested that public policy decisions should remain within the domain of the US government.

“I certainly think that in some cases, it would be best for the Vatican to stick to matters of morality… and let the President of the United States stick to dictating American public policy,” he said.
