White House Doctor Declares Trump ‘Fully Fit’ for Office, Recommends Weight Loss
Trump’s latest medical examination found him in excellent physical and cognitive health. The White House physician recommended continued weight loss and more physical activity.
President Donald Trump is in “excellent health” and remains fully capable of performing his duties, according to a medical evaluation released by the White House, though his physician has recommended weight loss, exercise, and dietary adjustments.
The report followed Trump’s annual medical and dental examination conducted Tuesday at Walter Reed Military Hospital outside Washington.
In the memo, White House physician Captain Sean Barbabella said Trump demonstrated “strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function” and was “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
The physician also noted that preventive counselling was provided, including advice on diet, increased physical activity, continued weight reduction, and the use of low-dose aspirin.
At 6 feet 3 inches tall, Trump weighs 238 pounds (108 kilograms), the report said, placing him 14 pounds heavier than during his previous full annual medical examination in April last year.
Despite his age, the memo estimated Trump’s cardiac age to be roughly 14 years younger than his actual age. He also recorded a perfect 30/30 score on a cognitive assessment, a result Trump has repeatedly cited as evidence of his mental sharpness.
The president, who turns 80 on June 14, currently takes two cholesterol-control medications and aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.
The report sought to explain bruising frequently observed on Trump’s right hand, attributing it to “minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking” combined with aspirin use.
It also documented “scarring of the right ear consistent with prior gunshot injury,” referring to the assassination attempt during a 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman opened fire, killing one attendee and grazing Trump’s ear.
Questions about Trump’s health have surfaced in recent months following occasional public appearances in which he appeared drowsy and after reports of swelling in his legs linked to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition previously disclosed by the White House.
Reacting to the examination, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the medical check-up went “PERFECTLY,” while the White House celebrated the results with a social media post declaring he had a “PERFECT BILL OF HEALTH.”
The report’s release came three days after the examination, drawing attention because presidential health summaries are typically made public shortly after such evaluations, although the level of detail disclosed remains at the White House’s discretion.
