Award-winning rapper and actor Falz has refuted reports suggesting he endorsed Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi or any other politician during the 2023 elections, insisting he has always remained politically neutral.

The entertainer, whose real name is Folarin Falana, made the clarification while appearing on ARISE News Prime Time, where he stressed that his advocacy has always focused on encouraging Nigerians to vote rather than backing political candidates.

“Just a point of correction: I’ve never, in 2023 or at any point, openly supported any politician or political party,” he said.

“I’ve only actively encouraged people to go out to vote and let their intentions be known. What I clamour for is a free and fair democratic process.”

Falz explained that his reluctance to endorse politicians stems from his disappointment with Nigeria’s recurring political leadership.

“We’ve been going in cycles, and it just seems like almost the same crop of people we keep on reshuffling. At the end of the day, it’s tough to even sit anywhere and vouch for a Nigerian politician in 2026,” he said.

While ruling out any past endorsements, the singer acknowledged that he could support a political candidate in the future if convinced of the person’s leadership qualities.

“If I see someone that I feel 100 per cent is the one, maybe I would. But as it stands, I’m just trying to be cautious,” he stated.

Falz further urged Nigerians—especially young voters—to turn out in large numbers during the 2027 general elections, noting that increased voter participation would help safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and deepen democratic governance.
