The Honourable Chief Judge
FCT High Court Headquarters
Maitama, Abuja

Dear Honourable Chief Judge,

I, Thompson Chioma, a resident of Maitama Extension, Mpape, FCT, respectfully submit this petition to bring to your attention the unethical conduct and deliberate obstruction of justice by staff at the Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, concerning several cases in which I am involved.

On 27th July 2025, I filed a Statement of Claim in a civil matter (nuisance) against Ubong Friday Frank Umannah, due to misconduct and abuse of power from the Prosecuting Department of Mpape Division Police, relating to events that occurred on 23rd May 2025 — prior to a separate criminal complaint of threat to life made against me by the same party on 30th June 2025.

The civil matter was assigned to Court 2, but despite several visits and follow-ups, no hearing date has been given, no summons has been served to the defendant, and the registry staff have refused to progress the matter.

I have credible reasons to believe that court staff are deliberately obstructing this case for bribes. I have been subtly asked to “facilitate” the movement of my file with money. These delays have caused me great hardship — I have been forced to lodge in a hotel due to the ongoing nuisance and threats to life by (Odeal) etc from the opposing party.

On 25th July 2025, a court security officer identified as “John” served me a quit notice at the instance of my landlord, despite the fact that my rent had not expired. This appears to be another form of intimidation linked to my unresolved legal matters.

I also wish to bring to your attention a past incident from 16th October 2024, where I was falsely accused and assaulted in relation to a conflict with an AEDC staff member. He had been running an illegal connection on our compound’s meter and demanded I pay him ₦5,000 monthly. When I refused, he assaulted me. When I left to report the matter to the police, he disconnected the compound meter.

Unfortunately, DCO1 of Mpape Police Division compromised the case and falsely accused me of removing the meter. I was brutally assaulted in the court premises on 16th October, falsely charged, and sent to Keffi Old Prison — a result of a conspiracy involving staff of Court 9, Prosecutor Mangai of Mpape Division, and CC Okafor of Wuse Zone 6 Magistrate Court.

The court staff collected bribes and refused to register my assault case, which had initially gone to the registrar’s office at Court 6. Unknown to me, Mangai and CC Okafor went to Court 9, conspired with the registrar, collected a bribe from the defendant(AEDC Staff), and filed a Federal Government meter theft charge against me. Since then, the assault case has remained unattended, and the prosecutor has not been assigned to it despite several visits to the OC Legal office from April 2025 till date.

Meanwhile, the nuisance case filed and assigned to Court 2 on 27th July 2025 still has no hearing date, while the criminal threat-to-life matter, filed later (on 30th June 2025), has already been assigned a hearing date of 6th August 2025.

Shockingly, the registrar of Court 2 seized my three copies of court documents, stating that my case cannot proceed without a lawyer. I was also told to pay ₦10,000 to have the summons served in Mpape. I raised ₦5,000, but they refused to collect it and to serve the summons, withheld my hearing date, and seized my 3documents in their office to this day.

This level of injustice, misconduct, and systemic abuse by court officials is deeply troubling. I strongly believe that many innocent people are being imprisoned and denied justice due to corruption, bribery, and manipulation of court processes.

I humbly request the following:

  1. Immediate investigation into the misconduct of staff in Court 2, Court 6, and Court 9 at the Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6.
  2. Removal or suspension of any court staff found guilty of bribery, delay tactics, or tampering with justice.
  3. Immediate assignment of a hearing date to my civil case filed on 27th July 2025.
  4. Return of my seized court documents and prompt action on summons to the defendants.
  5. Investigation into the quit notice served by court security staff (John) when my rent has not expired.
  6. Disciplinary action against COURT staff and prosecutors who compromise justice due to bribery.
  7. Protection and assurance of a fair hearing, given the persistent threats, nuisance, and abuse I have faced from the opposing party.

I respectfully seek justice, fairness, and transparency. I trust in your leadership to restore confidence in the judiciary and protect the rights of vulnerable citizens like myself and others. Many innocents people has be SENTENCED to PRISON because of bribery and compromise to justice.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Yours faithfully,
Thompson Chioma
