Iran has announced the suspension of its military campaign against Israel after both countries exchanged fire for the first time since an April truce.

The announcement was made on Monday by Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military command in a statement carried by state television.

According to the statement, Iranian forces had already inflicted a “painful response” on Israel, prompting the decision to stop military operations.

“Iran has delivered a painful response to Israel and accordingly, the cessation of armed forces operations is hereby announced,” the military command stated.

Despite the halt in operations, Iranian authorities warned that any renewed attacks or hostile actions would be met with a stronger response.

“However, it is emphasised that should acts of aggression and hostility continue, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures than before will follow,” the statement added.

The development follows heightened tensions between the two countries and marks a significant moment in efforts to maintain the fragile truce established in April.
