Galadima Urges Atiku to Join NDC, Warns of Blame if Opposition Fails

Buba Galadima, a leading figure in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to align with the party, cautioning that he could be blamed if opposition unity collapses before the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Politics Today, Galadima said opposition leaders were already regrouping within the NDC to challenge the ruling party.

“The truth of the matter is that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso migrated into the ADC; they brought unity of opposition to unseat Tinubu,” he said, while alleging that there were “insinuations” of interference by the ruling party.

He continued: “This is why I’m making this call on former vice president Atiku Abubakar to follow us… such that there will be a unity of opposition to unseat this government, and if he refuses, Atiku will be held responsible.”

Galadima argued that failure to join the NDC would weaken efforts to build a united opposition front.

“The reality is that all the political gladiators are now in the NDC… If he refuses to do that, then he has now scuttled the unity of the opposition,” he said.

The comments follow reports that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso recently joined the NDC after meeting with party leaders, including Seriake Dickson.

Despite the claims, Atiku’s camp has denied any defection. His spokesperson, Paul Ibe, said there were no such discussions.

“If that is the case, I will be the first to know. I don’t think that there’s anything like that,” he said.
