Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on course to produce Nigeria’s next president in 2027.

He made the declaration on Monday during the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of a PDP faction held in Abuja, where he addressed party stakeholders.

Makinde urged members to stay united and committed, stressing that the party is capable of winning elections across all levels.

“We should write it down… This gathering will produce House of Assembly members… Senators… Governors and will produce the next President,” he said.

During the meeting, the party also approved a 13-member caretaker committee to manage the faction’s affairs.

The committee is headed by Tanimu Turaki, while Taofeek Arapaja will serve as National Secretary.

The resolution followed a motion by Tony Aziegbemi and was seconded by Clement Fagboyede.

Other members include Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi and Okechukwu Obiechina.

The move comes as the PDP navigates internal restructuring and political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
